FAQ: What Frequencies Do Your Microwave Products Cover?

Written by Peter Matthews | Feb 5, 2020 1:00:00 PM

At Knowles Precision Devices, we support a wide variety of industries and applications with unique needs; the product catalog is constantly evolving to accommodate. We are often asked which frequencies we support. While our microwave products excel at higher frequencies, the catalog spans a wide range.

For a quick look at frequencies covered by KPD, check out the bandpass filter catalog. Filters can be arranged and ordered by specifications of interest, including frequency. Here, you’ll also find data sheets and design files for each bandpass filter. At this time, the lowest frequency bandpass filter in the catalog is the B012MD5S at 1.227GHz. On the high end, B424MEZS comes in at 42.5GHz.

KPD offers filters with frequencies from L Band (1 GHz) to V Band (75 GHz)

KPD covers a majority of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) band designations in its current catalog alone.

Frequency band designations and example applications

For applications like 5G communication systems, frequency plays a major role in our ability to reach higher bandwidths and data rates. As frequency increases, bandwidth provides a larger share of the spectrum. 5G bands create the potential for a 20x increase in channel capacity built into spectrum planning.

While the KPD catalog features a wide variety of standard options, including filters for higher frequency applications, we also offer custom capabilities. Contact a member of the KPD engineering team to discuss custom development for your specific application.
